Planning your charter
Planning your Boca Grande tarpon fishing charter starts with your dates, group size, and how much time you want on the water. When you contact me, include your preferred dates, how many people will fish, and whether you have fished for tarpon before.
I run tarpon charters from April through October, with 6-, 8-, and 10-hour options. If you have some flexibility in your travel schedule, let me know so we can discuss the available dates and trip lengths.
What is included?
Your charter includes rods, reels, bait, tackle, and fishing-license coverage for the people fishing on my boat. I also provide an onboard cooler and ice. Please bring your own drinking water and other beverages.
The published rates are for the boat, not per person. They cover one to three people, with an additional charge for a fourth person. See charter rates for prices and trip details.
What should you bring?
- A hat and sunscreen.
- Polarized sunglasses, which are useful for spotting fish.
- Food, drinking water, and any other beverages you want during the trip.
An onboard cooler and ice are provided. If you bring your own cooler, it must be small, soft-sided, collapsible, and able to fit inside an under-deck compartment. Drinking water is not supplied.
All fishing equipment is supplied; if you would like to use your own, mention that when we discuss your trip.
Start times and meeting location
The 8- and 10-hour trips have variable start times so I can plan around the fishing. Six-hour trips are offered in morning or afternoon slots, subject to availability.
Trips depart from my designated pickup locations. I will confirm which location to meet at and the departure time before your charter.
Your first tarpon trip
You do not need previous tarpon fishing experience to book. Let me know your experience level and what you hope to get out of the trip so I can help you choose an option that fits your group.
Tarpon fishing takes patience, and catching a fish is not guaranteed. Choosing a longer trip gives us more time on the water; it does not guarantee a particular result.
Reservations, weather, and cancellations
A deposit is required to hold your date. Read the booking and cancellation policy before reserving, including the terms for cancellations on or after March 1.
I make the final decision about weather cancellations or postponements. The FAQ explains refunds for unfishable weather and how trips cut short by weather are handled. If you have questions about those terms, discuss them with me before booking.
