Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing Report

January 29, 2024It's Time To To Start Thinking About 2023
I have been putting my book together for the 2023 tarpon season and I have a few new clients that have already sent deposits and claimed some days. I also need to remind my regular clients, that fish every season, that contacting me as early as possible helps you get the dates you want and eases the pressure on me for scheduling. So just a quick note to get you planning.
This past season overall was a good year and I had great success on my boat, but it was not without some failures. With the growing popularity of tarpon fishing in the area the tarpon are seeing more pressure than ever and it requires some changes in tactics. The biggest most single change that anyone can make for success is to increase there time on the water. With that said every failure that was on my boat this season was a 6hr trip. All though they where limited it does not change the fact that some days 6hrs is not enough time. My 8hr trips and whole day trips are not only the most popular and widely booked they are also the most successful and it is a very rare for a 8hr or whole day trip to be a complete washout.
So to bring back my old motto
