It’s that time of year again! I just finished 2018 season and I am already booking for 2019. I have been booking dates for the upcoming tarpon season with new clients that are already calling. I wanted to reach out to all my regular clients as well as everyone that has recently inquired. Over the next few months I will begin to fill most of my dates. So its important to call as early as possible it helps to make my job easier and gets you the date you want.
“There are 3 types of fisherman – those who fish for sport, those who fish for fish and those who fish for tarpon” Capt Andy Boyette
** Tarpon Fishing Begins Early April And Last Through Sept. **
** Tarpon Season What To Expect **
————————————————————
April is the beginning of the season with tarpon starting to show up in good numbers. During this month the tarpon are in a pre-spawn feeding mode and are actively feeding on bait fish in Charlotte Harbor. I have some of my best days in this month while other guides are still focusing on the flats fishing the tarpon are gathering in good numbers and the boat traffic is light making for some really great fishing.
May June July the three busiest months for tarpon. Tarpon migration is in full swing, with thousands of tarpon in the 150-200 lb range in the harbor on the beaches and the Pass. Add to that our best summer tides and you have the absolute best tarpon fishing. Boca Grande is ground zero and includes the surrounding areas of Ft Myers, Cape Coral, and Charlotte Harbor where the tarpon fishing is absolutely Phenomenal !
August And September while the major part of the season is over for the influx of guides that swarm the area, the tarpon are kicking into a post spawn feed. After spending sometime insuring the future and spawning tarpon once again flood Charlotte Harbor. This is when casting and retrieving artificial lures is the main stay of my trips. The adrenaline rush of a explosive tarpon taking a lure you are retrieving is nearly heart stopping and an absolute addiction.

** List Of Hill Tide Dates Includes 2 Bonus Moons This Year During Peak Season
————————————————————
During the months of May and June, on the new and full moon phases, our strongest tides known as hill tides flush millions of crab out of Charlotte Harbor and into the pass and on to the beaches, this is when the tarpon go on a feeding frenzy. These are the most sought after dates during the season. It begins 2 days prior last 2 days after the moon.
This year I am including the Full moon on April 19th and the New Moon on July 2nd The cycle puts these moons in alignment with peek tarpon season and the fishing will be exceptional
May 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 new moon
May 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 full moon
June 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 new moon
June 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 full moon
Bonus Hill Tides
April 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 full moon
June 30 July 1, 2, 3, 4, new moon
Thank you to everyone who fished this past season it was not without difficulties. Red tide was a major culprit in the few trips I had with limited success. It is very frustrating to not have a successful day, no one on the boat understands that better than me the. With that said when chasing Big Game like Tarpon they have the final say, Mother Nature has a way of working in their favor. For those that understand it what keeps them coming back year after year. I know it what keeps me chasing the Silver King see you on the water… Capt Andy Boyette
